Well Pumps

Surface pumps and submersible pumps for septic tanks.

How to choose a well pump?

A well pump brings water from an open or shallow well to the house, garden or irrigation system. The right choice depends on the suction depth (a surface pump draws from up to 8 m), whether the house needs water too, and the desired noise level.

Grundfos JP is the classic and affordable solution — a pump with a pressure tank and automatics (hydrofor) that fits summer houses and gardens well.

Grundfos SB is a submersible booster pump that is lowered into the well or tank — it works silently and suits irrigation and supplying a smaller house, but needs an external controller for automatic operation.

Grundfos SBA is the same submersible pump with a built-in controller and dry-running protection — it starts and stops with water draw and needs no separate control unit.

Frequently asked questions

Which pump is best for a well?+
If the well's water level is up to 8 m deep and you want an affordable solution, the classic JP hydrofor is a good choice. If you want a completely silent solution or the level is lower, choose the submersible Grundfos SB or the automatic SBA.
How much does a well pump cost?+
The classic JP hydrofor costs 235–553 € in our range, the submersible SB booster pump 521–602 € and the automatic SBA 575–716 €.
What is the difference between SB and SBA?+
Both are submersible booster pumps that are lowered into the well or tank and work silently. The difference is in control: SB needs an external controller for automatic operation, while SBA has the controller and dry-running protection built in — the more convenient choice.
From how deep does a well pump draw water?+
A surface pump (JP) can draw water from up to 8 m deep. Submersible pumps (SB, SBA) are lowered into the well and bring water from deeper as well. For a very deep well, a borehole pump is the right choice — we help with the selection free of charge.
Does a well pump suit house water supply too?+
Yes — SBA works as a full water automatic, SB with an external controller as well, and JP with its pressure tank. If house supply is the main use, also see our water automatics selection (SCALA1, SCALA2).
Can a well pump be used for rain water?+
Yes — JP, SB and SBA are also well suited for pumping water from a rainwater collection tank for irrigation and household use.
